JP Cooper is a neo-soul singer/songwriter from Manchester. He began writing songs when he was 15 and his love for music led him to study the Access course, Contemporary Popular Music Studies, back in 2002.
‘I wanted to pursue a career in music. I wanted to do it in a way which would allow me to explore my own qualities and not just learn completely by the book. Access was perfect for this’.
JP Cooper formed his first band at Access which ‘deepened his love for music and allowed him to explore it in a completely free way’.
His exquisite soul-laden voice led him to being signed by Island Records, who are currently responsible for the careers of some of the biggest names in the industry. Their artists include Jessie J, U2 and Drake.
JP has worked with Jonas Blue on the number one hit Perfect Strangers and his own record September Song took a spot in the UK Top 10!
And if this wasn’t enough, his track ‘Birthday’ features in the movie Fifty Shades Darker, which has grossed $560 million globally.
Despite these amazing accomplishments, he says that his biggest achievement was ‘opening for Stevie Wonder at Hyde Park in 2016’.
