Pino Leoni is a freelance sound engineer and is currently studying Sound Engineering at Access Shoreditch.
When asked how Access has helped with his career, Pino replied ‘with its in-depth lessons, practice time and work experiences’.
Pino has recently worked with a major Hollywood actor. Willem Dafoe visited Access Shoreditch to work with Pino on the voiceover of a documentary called Pigs.
‘A friend of mine involved in post production passed my contact details onto a movie director, who was planing to record Dafoe voice. I accepted the job without thinking twice and decided to do it at the college as I was familiar with the equipment in the studio. I was really excited to work with such a great celebrity. He is a really easy going person and a great professional artist.’
Pino has also been engineering a number of live gigs from international bands to local soloists. He will also be working at Glastonbury Festival 2017.
His advice to aspiring sound engineers is, ‘focus on what you want to achieve, work hard for it and don’t give up. All the sacrifices pay off in the end’.
