Rapper Esham is the inspiration of one of our Birmingham Music Production Level 3 students Adrian aka Big Que. Esham, is an American rapper from Detroit. Emerging as one of the first ever hip-hop artists from Detroit, Esham released his debut studio album, Boomin’ Words from Hell in 1989 at the age of 16.
Student Adrian grew up as a teenager listening to Esham’s music and is still influenced by him to this day.
As one of the first rappers to receive attention in the city, Esham is considered to be a pioneer of Detroit hip-hop, as well as the hip-hop subgenre horrorcore. His influence eventually fueled the careers of other Detroit hip-hop artists such as Kid Rock, and Insane Clown Posse.
Esham is known for incorporating elements of rock music in his beats, and his lyrics cover a number of subjects. Esham refers to his style of music as “acid rap”.
His album highlights consist of six albums with over 120 songs featuring.
