UK live music has been one of the UK’s biggest social, cultural, and economic successes of the past decade. But the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has meant the future for venues, concerts and festivals and the hundreds of thousands of people who work in them looks bleak. But that hasn’t stopped us and everyone else in the creative industries from shouting up! We are all one big family after all.
Following the launch of the campaign, the Government announced a £1.57bn support package for the arts. The support package was widely welcomed by the music industry, however we still need to ensure that eligibility for grants and loans is as broad as possible to ensure maximum take-up from across the industry from those in desperate need of help. Also those that don’t have a track record of public funding must also not be put at a disadvantage and we are seeking urgent talks with the Government to discuss further.
