Level 3 Interactive Media is a media production course which will give you the skills to go on to university or into creative work.

The creative sector is one of the fastest growing areas of the UK economy and a great and exciting place in which to work.

This Interactive Media course can lead onto:

  • A creative degree at university where you can gain further skills in preparation for work. This may be a digital media or arts/design degree, or another subject which takes your fancy. You will need to complete both years of the course in order to generate the UCAS points for university entry.
  • Employment, or self-employment, in the creative industries. This may be as a media creative, or it may be into another area of creative industries. Possible roles include: junior web designer, web administrator, junior app developer, digital marketeer.
  • A creative apprenticeship as a stepping stone to work.

Being at Access Creative College is so much more than just doing a course. You will have the chance to get first-hand experience of the media and creative industries.

Here are some of the opportunities you can take advantage of:

  • EVENTS: You’ll have unique opportunities to showcase your work via exhibitions.
  • EMPLOYABILITY WEEKS: Three weeks in the year are dedicated to developing your work skills and showcasing your work.
  • MASTERCLASSES: The college promotes industry masterclasses by media artists and industry players. These enable you to gain advice and guidance from working professionals.
  • KOMPASS: Get prepared for the world of work through opportunities and tips from our in-house careers portal.
GET A QUALIFICATION

On successful completion you will get a recognised qualification which you can add to your creative CV:

  • Two year BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production. This can generate up to 168 UCAS points on the 2017 tariff. Please note these UCAS points are for a Distinction* and lower grades generate considerably fewer points.
  • The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels.
  • All assessment is via real-world project-based course work. There are no end of year exams.
DURATION & FEES
  • The Level 3 Interactive Media course lasts for two years.
  • It is usually delivered over three to four days per week from September to June (daytime). How long you are in college will depend on what additional English and Maths sessions you need to attend.
  • If you aged 16-18 on 31st August 2019, and/or at the start of your Interactive Media course then the course if FREE
  • FREE for 19-23s if you don’t have a previous full Level 3 qualification.
  • For those aged 24+ you will pay £4,670 per year. However, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of this course. You will only have to repay the loan when you start to earn over £25,000 per year.
SIGNING UP

Applying for this Interactive Media course is easy.

All you need to do is fill in our short online application form. After you have created an account you will be able to provide links to online work, upload relevant documents and book an interview slot.

SKILLS SET

  • We value your creative passion and skills above all else. However, you will also need to demonstrate that you are able to work at Level 3 (A Level standard). This means achieving at least four GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C-A*), including English, or other equivalent qualifications. Other grades will be considered on a case by case basis. Places are conditional based on this achievement and we will discuss options with you if you do not attain these.
  • For school leavers we will require evidence of your predicted and actual grades, ideally backed up by a school reference.
  • This course is for creatives who want to work in digital media production, creating media projects and campaigns. You should have a strong interest in this area, but direct experience is not essential.
  • Please note you will not be able to enrol if you will be under the age of 16 on 31st August. Applications from people under this age are still welcome, but will be deferred to the following year.

 

INTERVIEW:

  • Please come prepared to talk about your interests, your current skills, the media channels and campaigns you like, and your ambitions. Come prepared to how any work you may have produced, such as web pages/sites, social media channels etc. This may be in the form of an online or physical portfolio.
