Our marketing team kick-started the festival season by heading to SlamDunk, a three day rock and punk festival, which takes place across three locations. Our destination of choice was Leeds.
The 8 different stages saw the likes of Enter Shakari, Bowling for Soup and Don Broco. Headlining one of these stages were Neck Deep, whose lead guitarist is an ex-student. We managed to catch up with him before he headed on stage! We asked him what made up the ‘soundtrack of his life’. Check out to next edition of AAA to find out what guitar riff made him want to pick up a guitar!
The sun-filled, cloud-free, festival was made up of people from all walks of life all coming together for the love of good music.
We headed straight to the main stage where we saw We Are The Ocean play their penultimate performance as a band. Whilst here, we also managed to chat with a number of festival-goers and asked who they were most excited to see. Some of these were either current or ex Access students – such a small world!
Once they had finished, we headed to the Monster stage to see Cute is What We Aim For. Despite the fact they hadn’t played in the UK for nine years, their audience turnout was phenomenal!
We interviewed our ex-student, Sam Bowden backstage, where he had to head off quickly after, as he was due to perform in 10 minutes. Whilst backstage we bumped into Australian band Tonight Alive as they made their way to the stage. They invited us to watch them on a balcony at the side of the stage. It was surreal and great to see such an enthusiastic and excited crowd from a bird’s eye view.
Enter Shakari closed the festival on the mainstage with incredible songs backed up with an incredible light show. They finished the 10 hour festival on a high, with 15000 happy fans heading home or to the afterparty!
