We have reached the end of our Battle of the Bands semi-finals. Five cities visited and 25 unsigned artists have taken to the stage. Five of these are now preparing for the final and perform for the chance to support Ed Sheeran on the final night of his stadium tour.
For those of you who don’t know the background, here at ACC we have been working with HOAX to hold a competition to find a support act for the global superstar!
HOAX is a contemporary streetwear brand, with roots dating back to 1994, inspired by skate, surf and music. We have been working with them to host the live session in Birmingham, Bristol, London, Manchester and Ipswich.
Each city had their own panel of music industry professionals to judge and pick the winner. We don’t envy them – they had a hard decision to make!
The final five will be heading to Epic studios in Norwich on August 16th for a true battle of the bands. So, who are they?
Birmingham: 11th July, Mama Roux’s
Chloe is an acoustic singer/songwriter, but with her keys and cajon backing, it’s no surprise she took the crown in the Birmingham heat. She is described as ‘a teenage artist gaining widespread attention in the music industry’. She has received over 500000 views on her YouTube channel. You can find out more about her here: www.chloeelliotmusic.com
Ipswich: 12th July, Cult Bar
With this being the home of Ed Sheeran, it was no surprise that the talent came out in full force. In the end, neo-soul singer, Caswell, took first place with her big tunes and flawless voice. Her band also featured ex Norwich student, George Kerridge. www.caswellofficial.com will show you exactly what all the fuss is about.
London: 18th July, Signature Brew Taproom
The winner of the London heat was Hux. They are a London based group with a combination of Austrian and English musical backgrounds. Taking to the stage, with not a pair of shoes in sight, their voices complimented each other in the most beautiful way and it was no surprise that they took the win. Just head to www.huxofficial.com to have a listen!
Bristol: 19th July, Rough Trade
Yet another strong group of artists and another hard decision for the judges. In the end we saw Lili Caseley walk away a winner. Her atmospheric and effortless voice combined with her pure sass made her a worthy winner. She also happens to be an ex ACC student! Have a listen on www.lilicaseley.com
Manchester: 23rd July, Gorilla
The final stop on the tour. The Manchester supporters were out in force to see Germein steal the show. Germein are three sisters from Adelaide have been grabbing people’s attention with their ‘unique brand of catchy indie rock pop songs and signature harmonies’.
