Summary

Sadler’s Wells Theatre are offering two Level 3 Apprenticeships in Technical Theatre: Sound, Light and Stage.

About the Apprenticeship

  • You will work across both venues, gaining experience in sound, lighting, and stagecraft.
  • No prior experience or qualifications are required.
  • The apprenticeship lasts up to 24 months.
  • You will earn a Level 3 qualification in Technical Theatre and gain industry certifications like the ABTT Bronze Award and Auto-CAD.
  • Practical training will be combined with classroom learning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and running shows and events.
  • Set up and operate sound and lighting equipment.
  • Work backstage during performances.
  • Assist with rigging and scenery installation.
  • Help maintain technical equipment.
  • Participate in training programs.
  • Complete health and safety training.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.

Important Information:

  • Two apprenticeship positions are available: one at Sadler’s Wells Theatre and one at Roundhouse.
  • Both apprentices will be required to work across both venues throughout the program.
  • While venue preferences can be submitted during application, successful candidates cannot be guaranteed their preferred location.
  • This apprenticeship is a demanding, professional environment requiring full focus and effort to complete the Level 3 qualification (evidence-based, relying on work experience for unit completion). Strong time management and workload management skills are essential.
  • Travel expenses between venues are not covered.
  • Successful candidates will be required to work with young people at Roundhouse and will undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check.

Eligibility:

  • Must achieve a minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English (support can be provided).
  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Availability to start the apprenticeship in September 2024.
  • Ability to travel to Sadler’s Wells and Roundhouse for work.

  • Sadler’s Wells East (opening 2023, 550 seats) – located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, east London. This venue will include facilities for a choreographic center and a hip hop theatre academy.
