This course gives you the skills to specialise in your desired computer-generated art form, and progress to the area you’re most interested in.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

Become familiar with industry-standard software and techniques to create your projects.

Gain in-depth knowledge of digital workflows, cutting-edge tools, and expert methods employed by professionals in the animation and VFX industries.

Build a broad understanding of various animation and VFX forms, with a primary focus on 2D and 3D mediums.

Learn the art of 3D modeling, live-action sequence compositing, digital animation, and image editing.

Become familiar with the language of cinema and explore the intricacies of animation pipelines and processes – all to industry-standard.

Refine your skills in various areas, including character and asset design, 3D modelling, and graphic design, all crucial aspects of pre-production in the industry.

Build your professional experience through project work within the course and wider industry.

Create personal promotional materials including a CV, logo, portfolio and website. 

Work with live briefs to gain key skills in client interaction, working to a brief, time management and understanding the revisions process.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

At least four GCSEs at grades 4-9, or C-A* including English (other grades will be considered on a case by case basis).

MATHS AND ENGLISH

If you are 16-18 and don’t already have GCSE Grades 4 or above in mathematics and/or English Literature or Language, it will be compulsory for you to do a GCSE level maths and/or English course alongside your studies with us. Learn more here.

CAREERS AND PROGRESSION

This course is to get you into the mindset and give you a portfolio of work to become a 2D or 3D animator, modeller or artist. You can take all these skills into Higher Education and study a degree in Visual Effects, Animation or similar. Careers open to you include 2D or 3D Animator, Modeller or VFX Artist.
