The L3 Vocal Artist course is designed to take your vocal skills to a professional level. You’ll develop your voice through live performances and expert coaching, mastering set lists and stagecraft to deliver captivating performances.

Explore key elements of music theory, composition, and lyricism, building a deep understanding of the music you love and creating your own unique sound. You’ll also gain essential industry knowledge through seminars on marketing and career sustainability, helping you prepare for a successful career in music.

Throughout the course, you’ll work on real-world creative briefs, push your musical abilities, and develop business, organisational, and collaboration skills to thrive as a professional artist. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the skills and experience to take your music career to the next level.

  • Vocal Performance: Refine your vocal skills and stage presence through regular performances and one-on-one coaching.
  • Music Composition & Arrangement: Develop your ability to compose and arrange music, applying music theory and lyricism to bring your ideas to life.
  • Music Industry Knowledge: Gain insights into the music industry, including career sustainability, marketing, and branding.
  • Collaboration: Work on creative projects and collaborate with peers across different disciplines, simulating real-world industry experiences.

On the Vocal Artist course, you can access state-of-the-art rehearsal spaces, top-quality equipment, and peripherals, including microphones and PA systems. You’ll also have the chance to work in dedicated studios and tech suites for composing, practising, recording, and filming your music. With a focus on honing your vocal technique and stage delivery, you’ll engage in a variety of performance opportunities throughout the year to refine your skills and build confidence. Your time here is designed to help you evolve into a professional artist, so make the most of our world-class facilities and resources.

In college you’ll have access to:

  • Microphones, leads and stands.
  • Guitar and bass amps.
  • Drum kits (acoustic, with cymbals and/or electronic kits).

High-spec classroom/tech room spaces:

  • Apple iMacs with up-to-date Logic Pro X music sequencing software.
  • MIDI controller keyboards.
  • Audio interfaces.
  • A range of microphones and headphones.
  • A music production studio.

  • There are opportunities for collaboration across creative disciplines for example photo and video shoots for musicians, or writing music for video games.
  • We have developed in house careers and online learning programmes to support, enhance and harness students’ creative skills and abilities.
  • We cover a range of disciplines and outputs whilst still allowing students to determine and develop their own creative outputs.

4 GCSEs at 4-9 (C-A*) including English.

Learning Structure:

  • Practical sessions in specialist spaces combined with contextual classroom studies.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with peers from different pathways during shared lessons.

 

Year 1:

  • 13 hours of in-person subject lessons each week, focusing on topics within your chosen discipline and employability skills development through the Professional Development programme.
  • 56 hours across the year, to apply what you’ve learned and complete assignments.
  • 64 hours of enrichment activities throughout the year, offering additional creative projects and experiences outside the classroom.
  • 4 hours of Maths and/or 3 hours of English weekly for students needing to retake these subjects after achieving a grade 3 or below.

 

Year 2:

  • 12 hours of in-person subject lessons each week, continuing your development in your chosen discipline and employability skills.
  • 111 hours over the year, to deepen your independent learning skills.
  • 48 hours of enrichment activities throughout the year, designed to expand your knowledge and creativity outside the classroom.
  • 4 hours of Maths and/or 3 hours of English weekly for those retaking these qualifications due to achieving a grade 3 or below.

This internally assessed course is delivered and evaluated by teachers through planned projects. These combine practical tasks, like performances, lyrics writing, compositions, and music videos, as well as written reports, and presentations. 

Our bespoke professional development programme aims to empower you to take your next steps into your future career. We achieve this by providing you with a three phase programme of lessons, projects and experiences designed to give you as much exposure to industry as possible.

If you are 16-18 and don’t already have GCSE Grades 4 or above in mathematics and/or English Literature or Language, it will be compulsory for you to do a GCSE level maths and/or English course alongside your studies with us. Learn more here.
