Our Level 2 Games Development course is the perfect introduction to the gaming world, covering both games art and development. You’ll learn how to create simple games, design characters, develop animations, and use industry-standard tools.Â
The course also explores the games industry, career paths, and marketing strategies. You’ll build your technical and academic skills while gaining employability experience by organising a game-related event. This course is designed to prepare you for Level 3 study and help you take your first steps towards a career in games development.
On our L2 Games Development course, you’ll learn about the fundamentals of game creation, including both the artistic and technical aspects of development. You’ll work with industry-standard software and tools, gaining hands-on experience to create simple games and animations. The course incorporates practical sessions and classroom studies, providing you with transferable skills that can take you into various sectors like media, art, and IT. You’ll also have the chance to study for an Amazon Web Service certification, giving you valuable qualifications for the industry.

This course is internally assessed meaning your teachers deliver and assess all of your coursework. Games Development Level 2 is currently made up of 6 assignment submissions, which make up larger projects. Projects are a balance of practical work like game builds, screen-captured playthroughs, Game Design Documents (GDDs), animations and art work, as well as written reports and presentations.
Our bespoke professional development programme aims to empower you to take your next steps into your future career. We achieve this by providing you with a three phase programme of lessons, projects and experiences designed to give you as much exposure to industry as possible.
Those who need to retake maths and/or English due to achieving a grade 3 or below will undertake 4 hours of maths and/or 3 hours of English a week. Learn more here.
