The urban feel of Manchester

Greater Manchester has firmly established itself as one of the UK’s premier filming destinations, and 2025 is spectacularly proving this.

DC’s Clayface

The DC Universe has taken over Stockport and Manchester in a big way. This major superhero production has been spotted filming across multiple locations, including Stockport town centre and the iconic Castlefield area of Manchester

Local residents have been treated to the sight of elaborate set builds and Hollywood-level production crews transforming familiar streets into Gotham-esque landscapes.

Adultery

Hollywood talent has descended on Altrincham for this production, bringing A-list star power to the suburbs. ITV’s new six-part drama Adultery, written by BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Brassic), began filming around Manchester in September 2025.

Netflix’s Charlie Brooker Project

The streaming giant continues its investment in Manchester, with acclaimed creator Charlie Brooker filming his latest project in the city. Netflix’s ongoing commitment to UK productions means consistent opportunities for local crew, from runners to camera operators.

London remains the beating heart of UK film and TV production, with an extraordinary range of projects currently in production.

Guy Ritchie’s MobLand

Legendary British director Guy Ritchie has been filming his new gangsta series in East London, starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. The crime drama showcases East London’s gritty urban landscapes, with Ritchie bringing his signature visual style to the capital’s streets.

Production wrapped in March 2025 after filming throughout the winter months.

DC’s Supergirl

The new Supergirl film, starring House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock, is now filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, bringing DC superhero action to the UK. While primarily studio-based, productions of this scale create ripple effects throughout the entire regional crew base.

Greta Gerwig’s Narnia

Perhaps the most ambitious production currently gracing London’s streets is Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew for Netflix. Filming began in August 2025, with the Barbie director spotted on location alongside young actors presumed to be playing Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, the story’s central duo.

Lavish sets have been built around Bank Station and The Royal Exchange to recreate post-war Britain. Not only that, over 100 extras have been used throughout filming sections, and the production has created spectacular scenes, including intense police chases through Central London, with officers on vehicles and bicycles chasing Jadis, the White Witch, through Whitehall and Westminster.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Marvel’s latest adventure has swung into Scotland, with Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker. The production has been utilising Scotland’s diverse locations to create both intimate character moments and spectacular action sequences. Glasgow’s streets have been transformed for key sequences, while rural locations provide the perfect backdrop for the film.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

The master of cinematic spectacle is back, and he’s brought his epic adaptation of Homer’s classic to the rugged Scottish Highlands.

Nolan’s reputation for practical effects and breathtaking cinematography makes Scotland the perfect canvas for bringing ancient mythology to life. With a star-studded cast and the director’s trademark attention to detail, this production represents filmmaking at its most ambitious.

Richard Gadd’s Half Man

Following the success of Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd returns to his Scottish roots with this deeply personal new project. Filming across Glasgow and the surrounding areas, Half Man showcases Scotland’s ability to tell intimate, character-driven stories alongside the blockbuster fare.
