course overview

On the Level 2 Digital Systems and Data course, the focus is on building your practical skills for a future in digital software development. You will be given a solid foundation in a range of digital systems disciplines, and space to develop your personal and professional skills, allowing you to advance further in your studies and make an informed decision about your next steps on your journey in the world of digital software development.

During this stage of your studies, you are provided with the tools, guidance, and resources to develop and enhance your existing skills and interests in digital systems, data and software development. You’ll also undertake a variety of activities and projects that challenge you to apply your knowledge of networks, programming and cyber security in practical briefs.

One of the main focuses of the Level 2 course is to develop both your technical and academic skills so you can progress onto Level 3 study with us, such as Software Development (T Level) or Games Development, or onto an apprenticeship. You’ll learn about the digital industry and what is needed to succeed, and complete a personal progression project. You’ll work on your personal health and well-being to prepare for the next steps in life and education.

The course allows you a safe space to experiment with techniques and approaches to improve, without fear of failure. By actively participating in hands-on tasks and projects, you will refine your practical skills, including understanding data, creating digital products, cybersecurity and configuring software, and learn to utilise industry-standard software and tools effectively. You will learn to respond to briefs, becoming confident in creating work in a range of programming and data disciplines and leave the course feeling confident in problem-solving, your skills and your next steps.
