Frequently Asked Questions

The creative industries are one of the fastest-growing sectors in the UK economy. While freelancing is common, there are thousands of permanent roles in creative agencies, tech firms, film studios, and gaming companies. Even in freelance roles, many professionals work on long-term contracts. Furthermore, our focus on digital skills as well as Skills for the Future, including collaboration, creative thinking, digital literacy, problem solving, organisation and communication, ensures they have personal, professional or digital skills that are in high demand across all industries.

That is a common myth. Entry-level salaries in sectors like Gaming, VFX, and Software Development are highly competitive. Senior creative directors, lead designers, and specialised technicians often earn salaries comparable to those in management, law, or engineering. The technical and collaborative creative is considered central to the global digital economy.

Absolutely. We focus on ‘Skills for the Future’ such as:

Creative Thinking: Essential across industries for driving innovation, pitching fresh ideas, and adapting when traditional methods fail. Employers value it because it prevents businesses from stagnating and helps them stand out from competitors.

Collaboration: Crucial in every modern workplace, as almost all industries rely on cross-functional teams to achieve goals. Being able to work seamlessly with diverse personalities, handle conflict, and support peers makes you an indispensable team player.

Communication: The foundation of all successful business. Whether you are pitching a project to a client, writing an email, or briefing a team, clear verbal and written communication prevents costly mistakes and builds strong professional relationships.

Problem-Solving: Universal because every business, from tech startups to festival management, encounters unexpected obstacles. Employers actively seek people who don’t just spot problems, but can logically analyse them and implement calm, effective solutions.

Digital Literacy: A non-negotiable requirement in today’s tech-driven workforce. Being digitally literate means you can quickly adapt to new software, leverage digital tools for efficiency, and navigate online workspaces safely and confidently.

Organisation: The backbone of productivity. Being able to manage your time, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines ensures projects run smoothly and efficiently, making you a reliable and low-maintenance employee in any sector.

All of these skills are widely required by employers both in and outside of the creative industries.  Our aim is to enhance your overall employability prospects.

AI is a tool, not a replacement for human creativity, and it is developing rapidly. We teach students how to use AI to enhance their work, be aware of how to use it safely, as well as its strengths along with limitations.  Your career should include original thinking, emotional intelligence, and complex problem-solving – things AI cannot replicate. By embedding these ‘human-centric’ skills into the curriculum, we are future-proofing your careers.

Industry supports us in the development, planning and sequencing of our courses. Our students’ experiences are built on industry engagement and meaningful opportunities, including live briefs. This means you aren’t just doing ‘homework’; you are completing briefs co-created with real employers. It means having access to engaging visits to employers and Higher education institutions. Whether it’s through T-Level placements (42 days in industry), guest masterclasses, or working with our Alumni network (The A List), you will have a portfolio of real-world evidence to show employers before they even graduate.

When you are a student with us, we seek to;

  • Develop your skills, knowledge and experience in a subject that you are passionate about.
  • Develop a strong sense of belonging, identity and purpose
  • Build your confidence, resilience and self-regulation
  • Enable you to gain highly transferable employability skills and professional behaviours
  • Makes informed, ambitious career decisions
  • Progresses into sustained, positive destinations
